USCF STATE TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIP
USCF State Time Trial Championship -- Thursday, August 30th -- 40k

In bicycle road racing, the 40K individual Time Trial is considered 
the truest test of a cyclists metal.  Thursday night's state championships 
at Moose Creek proved no exception.  With no drafting allowed, seven 
racers faced off against the clock and into a solid headwind.  For the 
first half of the race the riders pressed their hearts and minds to the 
redline, hoping that the headwind would become a tailwind on the return 
trip, from one mile south of The Knotty Shop back to Moose Creek.  But 
it was not to be, as the wind died.  Though the wind destroyed all hopes 
for personal bests or course records, none of the riders were deterred 
from gamely pushing themselves to their limits and posting times worthy 
of their efforts in what the French call "the Race of Truth."
