THE 19th ANNUAL DEATH RIDE
       19th Annual Death Ride  -- June 26, 2005 -- 20 miles


14 year old David Norris showed the big boys how it was done in the 18th
Annual Death Ride mountain bike race on Sunday.

Not only did he race in the Expert Men division, he finished nearly eight
minutes ahead of the nearest competitor, with a time of 1:50:27, one of
only two riders to break the two hour mark.

Course conditions were unusually difficult this year, with the swamp being
waist deep in places, and a new, technically difficult trail substituted
for some subdivision roads.  Despite one "endo" type crash, Norris rode
away from all the other entrants.

Joy Ritter was the only woman rider, finishing with a respectable time of
2:21:38, and David Leonard was the fastest of the Sport Men riders with a
time of 2:04:01.  Josh Branham won the Junior Men division in 2:48:22.
