The Folk School will be offering a two-day Wilderness First Aid course the weekend of February 3-4, 2018. Deb Ajango will teach the course, a renowned Alaska instructor on the topics of risk management, emergency action planning, and wilderness medicine.
The course will introduce the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with accidents and injuries when 911 is not readily available. It will cover assessment and management of the scene, assessment and management of life-threatening conditions, assessment and management/treatment of traumatic injuries, and the appropriate patient care for each. You’ll learn decision-making as it relates to delayed transport. As a bonus, Deb will cover how to handle winter-specific injuries.
