*BUILD BACK BETTER LETTER*If you support IMBA’s stance on the Build Back Better plan, the group has made it easy for you to let your voice be heard.
Shared from International Mountain Bicycling Association Oct 29 π ACTION ALERT! π We have a B-B-B-Big chance for more meaningful investments in public lands and expanded access to the outdoors through the Build Back Better plan, and your representatives need to hear from you TODAY.
Congress is working to finalize negotiations and vote on Build Back Better. This plan has the potential to include significant investments that will benefit mountain biking: urban park funding, public lands protections, a climate conservation corps, wildfire mitigation, climate resilience, the list goes on. It could unlock hundreds of millions more dollars for the outdoors and for trails in communities across the country, including yours.
We have made it easy to send a quick, personalized letter to your members of Congress. Let your representatives know you support bold action to invest in public lands and outdoor recreation.

*SAFE BIKING REMINDER*Good reminder for all cyclists using roads when it’s dark. From the story:
There are also a few things people should do when on the move….Bikers should wear brightly colored and reflective gear as well as a headlight, said REI employee Dorian Granger.
βVisibility is important because we all share the road,β Granger added.

*TEACHING LITTLE KIDS TO RIDE*Having a program to teach kids how to ride bikes would be awesome to have in Fairbanks. Anyone want to step up and organize something like this?
Shared from League of American Bicyclists
Here’s a little #bikespiration for the day: After teaching her own daughter how to ride a bike before the age of three, League Cycling Instructor Emi Kubota started KidCycle Club, which teaches kids from the age of 12 months to 12 years how to safely and confidently bike. “She saw her daughter gain self-confidence β and, crucially, develop a love for the outdoors.”

*TRAIL REPORT FROM MASTODON TRAIL*Ride report from Eric Troyer:
Biked Mastodon Trail in the Chena River State Recreation Area on Sunday. Trail is in good shape. Someone had snowmachined out, probably a State Parks crew. They cleared all downed trees from the trail. They are still working on the new cabin, too. The trail was a bit bumpy in places from the snowmachine tread and footprints (animal and human), but it is solid.

*TRAIL REPORT FROM WICKERSHAM DOME*Oct 23 Ride report from Eric Troyer and Corrine Leistikow: Riding is excellent along Trail Creek Trail from the Wickersham Trailhead to Lee’s Cabin. Still rideable after that, but a bit rougher. Wickersham Creek Trail down toward Eleazar’s looks even rougher. Tons of caribou sign out there! We even saw two caribou!
Probably best to go in the morning as temps in the afternoons are getting above 40.
