Several people on my Interior Trails Newsletter list have contacted me about getting emails with my name but a different email address. This is a newish scam called spoofing. I’ve been getting similar emails myself. I’ve looked into it, but it doesn’t appear I can do much, other than sending an email like this.
I found this article, which has something you can do if you get one of these emails
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Someone is spoofing – a fraudulent or malicious practice in which communication is sent from an unknown source disguised as a source known to the receiver – using your email address.
You can’t do much about it, except to alert your contacts about it and ask them to verify the authenticity of the messages received from your address. If they happen to use Gmail, they can follow the steps mentioned here – support.google.com/mail/answer/180707?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en&oco=0 – and report the fake ones as Spam or as Phishing.
