WHO

Members and potential members of the Fairbanks Cycle Club.

WHAT

This will be a time to socialize, celebrate the beginning of the summer cycling season, and discuss the state and direction of the club. We will start with a ride followed by the eating-socializing-discussing.

SCHEDULE

Ride

Official start time is 2:30pm, but people riding on their own can start whenever they like. Travis Naibert, FCC vice pres, will be leading a casual ride for anyone who wants to come along. It will be on the road (trails won’t be an option at that point), but all bike types are welcome.

On-your-own: Plenty of club members prefer going at their own pace and distance. That’s fine. In the past many have headed out Goldstream Road toward Fox. Good turnaround points include Fox, Felix Pedro Monument on the Steese Highway (just before the big climb), and Cleary Summit. Other options include a Goldstream-Ballaine-UAF-Sheep Creek loop or a bigger Goldstream-Old Steese-Farmer’s Loop-UAF-Sheep Creek loop. Just time it so that you’re back in time for the picnic!

Picnic

The club will provide makings for pulled pork sandwiches and vegetarian sloppy joes. Please bring a side dish and/or a desert. The club will also have a variety of juices and soft drinks available. Official picnic start time will be 4 pm.

Discussion

About 5 or so, we’ll have a presentation about the state of the club and discuss the future of the club. We plan to have some questionnaires for people to fill out.
