Anna is back for a week. She (and Erica and Heidi) did the Golden Nugget Triathlon in Anchorage last weekend, and she is getting married this weekend. But she still came out to ride with us because she is a WOW rider! So we rode in her honor to celebrate her upcoming nuptials.

We had a small group tonight and we all decided to have an easy ride. (Yes, WOW can do easy rides – we just mostly choose not to!) Two were in recovery from their triathlon, I was still recovering from my big ride on Saturday and Jordan had done squats yesterday, so she was fine with going easy. But don’t be fooled, even easy rides aren’t totally mellow. Erica lead the charge up Old Nenana, that girl can climb, and the rest of us followed. She waited for us halfway up. I always forget how much climbing there is to do on the Old Nenana. We stayed mostly together on the flats then we all went our own pace up the second half.

We ate Snickers at the top of the hill and gave Anna advice about being married then decided to just have a shorter ride and head back down the Parks instead of doing an out and back like we usually do. We did make an obligatory stop at the Parks Monument and asked some random dude to take a group photo of us. Then we bombed all the way back down to Ester Park.

It was a great night for a ride. Perfect temps with just a little breeze. The trees are so green. The only drawback were the mosquitoes which came out as soon as we stopped riding.

Only 17 miles with an average speed of only 16 mph – so it was a pretty mellow ride. We all agreed it was a lot of fun to ride easy for a change! But don’t worry, we won’t make a habit of it.
