Another ride for those just starting out!

When: Sunday, January 7, start at 11 am

Where: Tanana Lakes Recreation Area. Meet at the Tanana Lakes Boat Launch (THIS IS A NEW SPOT FROM ORIGINALLY PLANNED):

Estimated tour time/distance: We’ll ride for about an hour or so. Up to 90 minutes.

Description: This is a beginner ride. We’ll explore the trails and roads in and around the Tanana Lakes Rec Area for about an hour or so. You’ll need to have some biking experience, but if you’ve never fatbiked, this will be a good introduction.

The ride is free, but you’ll need to be a member of the Fairbanks Cycle Club. Two-week memberships are available for $10.

Temperature cut-off: The ride will be canceled if it’s 15 below or colder at 9:30 a.m. according to the National Weather Service site.

Dogs: No dogs please.

Leader: Eric Troyer (; 907-978-0967)

If you don’t own your own fatbike, but want to try it out, there are a few places around town that rent fatbikes that we know about. (Not all are open on Sundays, so plan ahead.)

We have other winter rides, and there are others as well. Find out more on our Winter Rides page.
