In mid-winter 2024, a vehicle accident disabled a set of traffic signals at an intersection in downtown Fairbanks. While the light was disabled, the intersection became a 4-way stop. It happened just outside the office of Corey DiRutigliano, a local architect, designer, and transportation planner. DiRutigliano watched how the changed traffic pattern changed driver behavior, apparently improving the safety of the intersection.

DiRutigliano wrote a Community Perspective piece for the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Because not everyone has access to the News-Miner, we asked DiRutigliano if we could publish the piece on our website.

If you are interested in reading DiRutigliano’s thoughts, you can read his piece HERE.
