When the temps go low, we go high!
When: Sunday, December 1, at 11am
Where: Meet at the end-of-plowing of Old Murphy Dome Road on the east side. That's seven miles in from the Elliott Highway.

Estimated tour time: About 3 hours.
Tour Description: The plan is to head out Old Murphy Dome Road trail toward the plowed road system on the west side (McCall Street). If we follow that plan, it'll be a 10-mile out-and-back roundtrip with about 1400 feet of elevation gain. Depending on group knowledge and desire, we could mix things up a bit. There are diversion options to make the return trip a bit different.
Temps are forecast to be a bit chilly in Fairbanks in the next few days, but then they are forecast to warm up a bit. And when temps are cold down low, they are usually much warmer up high.

The ride is free, but you’ll need to be a member of the Fairbanks Cycle Club. Temporary memberships are available. Participants also need to either sign a liability release form or have signed one earlier this year. Download the form and find out more on our insurance page.
Minimum skill level: Intermediate (trails are wide and not technical, but there will be some long climbs)
Temperature cut-off: The ride will be canceled if it’s 20F below or colder at 9 a.m. according this weather station (scroll down to “latest observation”).
(Note, this is the closest public weather station we can find to the ride. It's a ways away, but it's high and should be a good indicator of the temps at the ride start.)

Donation opportunities: No specific place to donate for these trails, but the mushers in the area take excellent care of them. Many of the mushers either have tour companies or race or both. Please consider supporting one or more of these kennels. (You can find a few on Google Maps.)
FATBIKE RENTALS
If you don’t own your own fatbike, but want to try it out, there are a few places around town that rent fatbikes that we know about. (Not all are open on Sundays, so plan ahead.)
