We had a great 2026 FCC Annual Meeting. Attendance wasn’t high – about 20 total – but we had some great discussions. We first had a potluck social. After about a half an hour, FCC President Eric Troyer started the official meeting.
Changes in the Board of Directors
The current Board of Directors:

- Eric Troyer: President and Treasurer
- Glenn Gambrell: Vice President
- Sharon Baker: Secretary
- Myles Brady: Treasurer
- Geoff Orth
- Monica Tolley
- Kjell Olson
- Garrett Armstrong – stepping down
FCC Member Scott Luper offered to serve on the board, so he will fill the spot being vacated by Garrett. Thank you, Scott, for stepping up!
We thanked Garrett for his service on the board (and as a ride leader). He plans to continue to be involved in the club.
State of the Club Address
Eric gave the State of the Club address. All items were covered in the 2026 FCC Annual Report: https://www.fairbankscycleclub.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/2026-FCC-Annual-Report.pdf
Following the address, we had an open-ended discussion about the future of the club.
- One brief exchange brought up the idea of the club offering a cycling-related scholarship, an idea worth exploring.
- Corrine Leistikow, who is on a FAST Planning committee, said the group is discussing holding events in May for National Bike Month (specifically around Bike to Work Week and Day) similar to what Anchorage does. She suggested that the FCC could help with that effort.
- We also discussed gravel on road shoulders and bikes paths. Eric said he has discussed with Olivia Lunsford at FAST Planning the possibility of getting the Alaska Department of Transportation to sweep gravel in May for National Bike Month. We also talked about electric sweepers that can be towed behind bikes. Eric said he and Olivia discussed purchasing one or more sweepers and pairing them with an e-bike and then having one or more of those sets available for people to borrow. Corrine said Dorian at Bankstown Bike and Ski is working on that and is also talking to FAST Planning.
- We also discussed racing. Eric thanked Matteo for his efforts which resulted in the Arctic Bicycle Club (Anchorage) putting on the Golden Heart Grinder (gravel race) on August 1. The group discussed the desire to bring more bike racing to Fairbanks and how that might happen. Suggestions included: hiring one or more contractors to direct races and holding races on trails rather than roads because using trails requires less permitting and is possibly cheaper for the insurance.
The board is supportive of these ideas. The main challenge is finding volunteers to organize these efforts and/or to set up a framework for contractors to run things in a way that doesn’t expose the club to too much risk or cost. If you are interested in helping with such an effort, please send Eric an email at fbx.cycle.club@gmail.com.
Summary
The board will continue exploring these topics in the coming months and will try hard to continue expanding what the club has to offer its members and the Fairbanks community.
