Chena Lakes Recreation Area is a popular place in summer, but did you know it has some awesome winter multi-use trails?

When:  Sunday, November 17, at 11am 

Where: Meet at East Lake Picnic Area. Take the access road toward the lake. It'll be the first parking area on your right. If that one isn't plowed out yet, continue on to the lake and meet at the boat launch/ice fishing hut parking lot (next parking lot on your right).

Estimated tour time: About 2-3 hours.

Tour Description: This will be an exploration of the multi-use winter trails in the rec area. The trails are mostly flat, so this is a great place for beginners.

The ride is free, but you'll need to be a member of the Fairbanks Cycle Club. Temporary memberships are available.

Minimum skill level: Beginner

Temperature cut-off: The ride will be canceled if it's 20F below or colder at 9 a.m. according this weather station (scroll down to “latest observation”).

Dogs: No dogs please

If you don't own your own fatbike, but want to try it out, there are a few places around town that rent fatbikes that we know about. (Not all are open on Sundays, so plan ahead.)
