The Tanana River Challenge happens on Saturday, so the trail on the Tanana River should be in good shape on Sunday. We'll take advantage of that! The ride will be fairly mellow. It's flat and Dean, who is leading, is signed up to race the TRC 45-miler on Saturday. What an animal! But he should be nice and tired come Sunday.

If it's sunny, bring your sunglasses! The snow really reflects the sun these days!

If you've got any questions or concerns, you can email Dean (info below)

When: Sunday, March 16, start at 11 am

Where: Meet at the Chena Pump Wayside

Google Maps link to meeting area:

Estimated tour time: About 2-3 hours.

Description: Start at the wayside and head down the river toward Nenana. Don't worry, Dean won't take you all the way to Nenana! At some point, depending on the desires of the group, you'll turn back. No hills! There may be some open water visible, but you won't be crossing any of it, and if anything looks sketchy, the group will turn back.

Pace and distance will depend on the group.

--Beginner: Some fatbiking experience but only a few easy rides

The ride is free, but you’ll need to be a member of the Fairbanks Cycle Club. Temporary memberships are available.

Leader: Dean Engelhaupt: DMEngelhaupt (at) gmail.com

FATBIKE RENTALS

If you don’t own your own fatbike, but want to try it out, there are a few places around town that rent fatbikes that we know about. (Not all are open on Sundays, so plan ahead.)
