Moderate Monday with Ken, Amy, Nikki, Mike, and Travis.
We started at Mushers Hall with a few sprinkles. We cruised Farmers Loop to McGrath to Lowell Drive and back to Skyline for a short climb up to Snowy Owl. Then we took Snowy Owl over to Eagle Ridge and up to Skyridge Rd. We saw some interesting houses and some new construction.
We took Skyline across to Cranberry where Amy decided she was done with the climbing and turned downhill. The rest of us tried to visit a farm stand for cucumbers, but it didn’t seem to be open, so we climbed some more up to the Skyline Ridge Park.
In the park, we took the wide trail over to the radio tower and then continued on the rooty trail over to the top of Moose Trail Road. Unfortunately, our luck ran out and the rain started making all the roots slick, especially for Ken’s roadish tires. After leaving the park, we went down to Grenac on a trail that felt quite a bit steeper than I remembered as the rain really started and the sky got darker.
We regrouped and rode through the Spring Glade neighborhood to Bruhn Rd and had a few washboard sections to contend with before returning to Musher's Hall via the Farmers Loop bike path and the end of our 14.7-mile, 2,000-foot ride.
