*RECOMMENDATIONS FOR RIDING?*Mountain bikers are itching to get out on the trails, but most can be soft and/or muddy this time of year. We don’t want to damage the trails for the rest of the summer season. Does anyone have any recommendations of any dry trails or good roads to ride?
Some south-facing forestry roads might be in pretty good shape. Learn more about forestry roads in our area here: www.fairbankscycleclub.org/resources/tanana-valley-state-forest-roads/

*TAKE ACTION BY MAY 14 ON THE MUTCD*The League of American Bicyclists describe why the MUTCD update is important and give you an easy way to advocate for biking in the update. We had an earlier post about the MUTCD from People for Bikes. Both groups are saying this is highly important, so please consider taking this small action. But you need to act by May 14.
Shared from League of American Bicyclists May 12 This week, we can make our voice heard on the little known, very technical, and vastly influential design guide governing traffic signs and road markings, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This is the first time in over a decade that the federal government has sought public comments on the document. It’s time for a manual that prioritizes slower-moving and people-oriented streets. It’s time for a manual that works for all of us. Learn more and take action with the League here:

*DENALI NATIONAL PARK ROAD OPEN TO MILE 30*Up until May 20 Denali National Park Road is open to private vehicles to Mile 30 (Teklanika) and closed after that. Buses aren’t running yet either. This is a great time to drive to Tek and hike, run, or bike on the park road after that. This is also a great way to do something fun while staying off our local trails as they thaw out and are soft and vulnerable to damage.
